A Biography of OPS |
What is your typical process for working with new customers?
I like to get to know them first. Take some time for a couple of days and just talk about exactly what we are looking for. You can't just walk out into the woods and shoot randomly. Make the shoot about the subject, get them comfortable. I hate posing people to look like robots, life is natural why shouldn't your photos express the real side of you. Also, the first few photos don't count. You're going to be nervous, wait until you settle in being in front of the camera, that's when my best work comes out. I'm also not up in your face. I use a long lens to stay about 20 foot away from you, so there is a more natural feel to things. What type of customers have you worked with in the past? I've worked with quite a few friends, not gonna lie, old and young, but the beauty of that is how detail oriented I've become with that. The elders pay attention more to simplistic things while the younger group wants to go all out. So it's best too spend time with the subject, it's not about the background, its about who is in the photo that makes the photo a masterpiece. How did you get started in this line of work? I simply started by hanging out with a friend and taking about 300 thousand photos of her over the course of a year or two. Different styles, themes, locations you name it we did it. Once I was about a third of the way into my design degree I realized where my heart truly laid, and by then I had about half dozen or so friends doing shoots non stop through the years. |
